To ask the Secretary of State for Health what limitations have been placed on the NHS chief executive in his dealings with the media.

Mr. Sackville

In accordance with the normal rules for civil servants, the national health service chief executive is permitted, under ministerial authority, to have contact with the media in order, inter alia, to explain Government policy and the performance of the NHS.
