Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Health who will be the chairman of the review body for the review of the professions supplementary to the Medicine Act 1960; and when she expects to introduce measures for the protection of fully qualified physiotherapists.

Mr. Sackville

We intend to commission an independent review to examine the current operations of the statutory bodies concerned. The study team has yet to be decided. The report, to be produced within a year, should provide an authoritative and objective base from which to carry out a more comprehensive consultation on future arrangements.
