HC Deb 14 February 1995 vol 254 cc633-4W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects repair work on the Newton street rail tunnel, Greenock, to be completed; if he will estimate when the passenger train service to Gourock will be resumed; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 9 February 1995]: Responsibility for repairs to the Newton street rail tunnel rests with Railtrack and Strathclyde regional council through the Strathclyde passenger transport executive. I understand, however, that the tunnel is expected to re-open for passenger traffic on 27 March 1995.
