HC Deb 14 February 1995 vol 254 c642W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if chairmen and non-executive directors of health authorities and trusts are informed on appointment of the number of hours per week or month that they would normally be expected to devote to their duties.

Mr. Malone

The matter of the number of hours per week or month which chairmen and non-executive directors of health authorities and national health service trusts will be expected to devote to their duties forms part of a comprehensive discussion between the appropriate regional health authority and prospective nominees before their names are submitted to Ministers, or, in the case of appointments made by regional health authorities, before formal appointment is made.
