HC Deb 13 February 1995 vol 254 cc494-5W
Mr. David Young

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what has been the cost of policing the demonstrations against the export of live calves;

(2) if he will require commercial organisations to pay the full cost of policing their commercial operations.

Mr. Maclean

The policing of recent demonstrations against the export of live animals has arisen from the duty of the police to uphold the law and I should not expect charges to be made for this.

Information on the total costs of policing demonstrations against the export of live calves is not available, and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
