§ Mr. NelsonI understand that the world summit on social development will discuss the problems of poor countries when it convenes in March, including developing countries' debt. We shall encourage participants at the summit to support the Chancellor's multilateral debt initiative.
The next step for the multilateral debt initiative will be to secure support from other members of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. We intend to pursue this at the institutions' spring meetings in April.
