§ Mr. DalyellTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what is the latest estimate of the loss of trade with Libya as a result of United Nations sanctions.
§ Mr. NeedhamThe British Government neither promote nor discourage trade with Libya. We are not able to estimate the loss of trade as a result of United Nations sanctions. However, provisional figures for 1994 showed that our visible exports decreased 28.1 per cent. to £197 million compared with £274.1 million in 1993.
