§ Mr. MaclennanTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what steps he has taken to meet the EEC agri-environmental regulations; and what funds have been made available for their implementation.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesIn the past year, we have launched in Wales two new environmentally sensitive areas, a countryside access scheme, a habitat scheme and an organic aid scheme. We plan to launch new payments to promote public access in ESAs and a moorland scheme shortly. These are additional to the existing five ESAs and Tir Cymen. Expenditure on these schemes is planned to rise to £15,000,000 by 1996–97.
