To ask the President of the Board of Trade when he expects the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to revisit the inquiry into ferry fares and services to and from the Isle of Wight.

Mr. Jonathan Evans

The Director General of Fair Trading is due to review the market for the supply cross-Solent ferry services this year, as requested by the then Secretary of State for Trade and Industry in 1992 following publication of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission report.
