To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his policy towards signing Welsh language letters from his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Richards

My right hon. Friend's policy is not to sign letters in languages he cannot understand. he replies to correspondence written to him in Welsh by sending a Welsh translation of his reply together with the signed English version.
