HC Deb 06 February 1995 vol 254 c94W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the population of(a) corn bunting, (b) grey partridge, (c) skylark, (d) curlew, (e) redshank and (f) snipe have been observed in Wales in each year since 1980.

Mr. Redwood

There are no annual data of sufficient quality for Wales.

Data gathered by the British Trust for Ornithology between 1988 and 1991, however, shows the number of 10 km squares in Wales occupied by each species as follows:

  • Corn Bunting: 5
  • Grey partridge: 54
  • Skylark: 203
  • Curlew: 176
  • Redshank: 60
  • Snipe: 105
