HC Deb 01 February 1995 vol 253 c747W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the trend in the number of unwanted teenage pregnancies in Wales.

Mr. Richards

The number of teenage pregnancies in Wales fell from 7,300 in 1984, to 6,400 in 1991—the earliest and most recent years for which figures are available. Over the same period the rate of conceptions per 1,000 women aged 15 to 19 increased from 64.5 to 70.4. It is not known how many of these pregnancies were unwanted.
