To ask the President of the Board of Trade when the first shipment of high level waste will take place from Sellafield via Barrow in Furness.

Arrangements for the return of such waste are, in the first instance, a matter for British Nuclear Fuels plc and its customers in line with the contracts between them. I understand that no date has yet been set for the first commercial shipment.
