HC Deb 19 December 1995 vol 268 cc1066-7W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the disaggregation of social work budgets by (a) Strathclyde regional council and (b) other regional and islands councils; and if he will make a statement. [4630]

Mr. Kynoch

[holding answer 18 December 1995]: As part of the process of preparing notional 1995–96 budgets for their successor councils, Strathclyde, Central, Grampian, Lothian and Tayside regional councils have disaggregated their 1995–96 revenue budgets, including those for social work, to the new council areas. This exercise has been carried out having regard to principles prepared in consultation with the councils concerned and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities.

Disaggregation is not necessary in the case of the other four regional councils and the three islands councils.
