To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many colleges of further education there are currently in the United Kingdom. [6071]

I am responsible for further education in England only. However, I understand that there are currently a total of 545 colleges of further education in the United Kingdom.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many colleges of further education in the United Kingdom have been transferred from local education authority control to management by incorporated bodies. [6073]

I am responsible for further education in England only. However, I understood that, of the 545 colleges of further education in the United Kingdom, 488 have been transferred from local education authority control to management by incorporated bodies.
