To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what protection will be available to the children of asylum seekers under the Children Act 1989 when the changes in benefits to asylum seekers come into operation. [5162]

The proposed changes in benefits for asylum seekers would not alter the existing provisions of the Children Act.

Mr. Alton

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what is the maximum amount of disability living allowance that may be claimed by an applicant for asylum; and what amount is then deducted from the amount paid to such an applicant in income support. [7135]
