HC Deb 19 December 1995 vol 268 cc1158-9W
Mr. Ainger

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what inquiries his Department has carried out into the quality of the new road surface laid between Redberth and Sageston on the A477. [7125]

Mr. Gwilym Jones

Testing of the materials used in the resurfacing together with testing of the new surface for skidding resistance and surface irregularity to check compliance with the specifications have taken place both during the contract in April 1995 and on three occasions since.

Mr. Ainger

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when the new road surface was laid on the A477 between Redberth and Sageston, how many road traffic accidents were recorded in each of the 12 months preceding the laying of the new surface; and how many have been recorded in each month following the laying of the new surface. [7126]

Mr. Jones

In the 12 months preceding the laying of the new surface there were no accidents recorded; since the new surface was laid there have been two accidents—one in July and one in October.

Mr. Ainger
