[holding answer 14 December 1995]:Details of the public opinion surveys commissioned by my Department and its two agencies are set out.

Of the two surveys commissioned directly by the Department, the first was a follow-up to the 1992 Green Paper on the future of the BBC. The second was part of the work carried out to develop the tourism strategy outlined in "Tourism: Competing with the Best", a copy of which is available in the Library of the House.

The surveys carried out by both agencies are general market research surveys carried out to assess the public's views and opinions regarding the attractions for which they are responsible.
