HC Deb 18 December 1995 vol 268 c836W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held with the Government of the Peoples Republic of China concerning the employment of child and prison labour in(a) economic zones and (b) export industries; what visits have been made to such enterprises by embassy staff; and if he will make a statement. [6022]

Mr. Hanley

We continue to be deeply concerned about reports of the exploitation of child and prison labour in China. We take every suitable opportunity to raise our concerns about all forms of human rights abuse in China. with the Chinese authorities. Most recently, the Foreign Secretary did so with the Chinese Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister, in London on 3 October.
