§ Mr. MaloneMembers of the Committee on Safety of Medicines are normally appointed by the United Kingdom Health Ministers for three-year periods with the maximum cumulative period of appointment being six years, as set out in paragraph 4 of the 1970 regulations. Members can be, and are, reappointed for further terms of office. A new three-year period of appointment announced on 11 December, takes effect on 1 January 1996.
