HC Deb 14 December 1995 vol 268 c722W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many(a) fatal and (b) non-fatal industrial accidents there have been at each coal mine in England in 1995. [5519]

Sir Paul Beresford

Information for individual mines is not produced. Statistics for the industry are published as an aggregate figure in the Health and Safety Commission's annual report. Those for the first quarter of 1995 are included in the 1994–95 statistics, which were published in the commission's annual report last month. Copies have been placed in the House Library.

Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been(a) the number of fatal coal mine accidents? and (b) the accident rate per 1,000 employees, in each year since 1979. [5520]
