HC Deb 11 December 1995 vol 268 cc478-81W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of Stae for Defence what assessment he has made of the impact on the housing market of his plans to sell off his Department's service housing stock. [4977]

Mr. Soames

[holding answer 8 December 1995]: The large majority of the properties transferred will initially be rented back by MOD to meet service accommodation needs. Our proposal will conduce to a more efficient release of surplus properties by MOD over time. Whether those empty properties are then sold, re-let or redeveloped will be a matter for the future owner of the stock, who will no doubt have regard to market demand at the time.
