HC Deb 11 December 1995 vol 268 c477W
Mr. Jamieson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his Department's policy with regard to forwarding the mail for members of the armed services serving abroad who have moved home. [4810]

Mr. Soames

The redirection of mail between British Forces Post Office addresses, whether in the United Kingdom or overseas, is a unit responsibility and no charges are made to customers for this service.

Redirection from a UK civil address to a BFPO address is handled under normal post office arrangements for which a charge is made. The charge is, however, set at the inland rate irrespective of the location of the BFPO.

Redirected mail from a civil UK address to an overseas civil address would be undertaken by the Post Office and its normal charges for this service would apply.
