HC Deb 11 December 1995 vol 268 c523W
Mr. Butcher

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make it his policy to extend the health care payments proposed for patients in nursing homes to cover disabled people who choose to live in residential homes. [4796]

Mr. Bowls

We have no plans for health care payments in either type of home.

Mr. Butcher

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many disabled persons entered residential homes in each of the last three years. [4795]

Mr. Bowis

Information on the degree of disability of individuals on entry to residential homes is not available centrally. Most people entering residential care would be regarded as having a significant degree of disability or dysfunction.
