HC Deb 04 December 1995 vol 268 c67W
Sir Cranley Onslow

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received from the Scottish district salmon fishery boards for the restriction of the salmon netting season in Scotland following the publication of the Salmon Advisory Committee report of the timing of salmon runs. [1974]

Mr. Raymond S. Robertson

I have made one order to implement a two-and-a-half month reduction in the netting season from the River Eachaig district salmon fishery board, and an application for a reduction in the season for the River Dee (Aberdeenshire) district is under consideration. Scottish district salmon fishery boards can also arrange for reductions in net fishing effort in their districts by other means without my intervention, and many have done so in the past 10 years.
