HC Deb 04 December 1995 vol 268 cc139-40W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will list the expenditure on publicity by her Department in 1994–95 and 1995–96

Mr. Robin Squire

Information on the numbers of teaching and non-teaching staff employed by local authorities is collected by a local government management board on behalf of the joint staffing watch group. The table provides information for England as at June of each year. The coverage of these figures does not reflect the 2,500 increase in teacher numbers in maintained schools between January 1994 and January 1995.
