§ Mr. AncramThe developmental element of research funding for the Northern Ireland universities, NIDevR, is to extend until the end of the 1996–97 academic year. Following the outcome of the 1996 research assessment exercise, the Northern Ireland Higher Education Council, 111W which advises Government on the planning and funding of higher education in Northern Ireland, will make recommendations on the totality of research funding for both universities beyond 1996–97.
