§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonIn his announcement on 15 June of the programme for developing Scotland's trunk road network, my right hon. Friend announced that, subject to the usual criteria including satisfactory completion of the statutory procedures and the necessary preparatory work, it is intended to start work on this section of the A1 dualling by March 1998. The subsequent construction period is expected to be approximately two years.
68WThe Department plans to publish revised draft road orders early next year to re-test public reaction to the scheme and the design revisions which have been adopted following earlier publication of the proposals. Subsequent progress will be dependent on the reaction of the public to the revised proposals.
