HC Deb 27 April 1995 vol 258 c697W
17. Mr. Stott

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans he has to tackle pockets of extremely high unemployment in Northern Ireland. [19625]

Mr. Ancram

I refer the hon. Member to our increasingly successful efforts to attract inward investment, grow tourism, encourage exports and explore innovation by our current companies as well as the training programmes and other job creation measures which are available.

In addition, we are piloting 1,000 places under the community work programme for long-term unemployed in three of the highest areas of unemployment.
