To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what fee was paid by Medicash to the Paymaster General's office for sending private health care mailshots to NHS pensioners; and how many were sent out. [20678]

Letter from Keith Sullens to Mr. Martin Redmond, dated 26 April 1995: I am replying to your written parliamentary question of 21 April, that you asked The Chancellor of the Exchequer. I have been asked to reply because it falls within my area of responsibility as Chief Executive of the Office of HM Paymaster General, known as the Agency PAYMASTER. On behalf of Medicash we forwarded informative material to 152,000 pensioners. Medicash were charged £21,379 including VAT.
