The Secretary of State for Transport has asked me to reply to your Question about the number of port state control inspections undertaken by the Marine Safety Agency (MSA) in the last two years.The MSA carried out 2,132 port state control inspections in the financial year 1992/93 and 2,218 inspections in 1993/94. Information on the inspections undertaken in 1994/95 is being collated and the number of port state control inspections carried out will be published in the MSA's annual report.
