§ Mr. Chris Smith
To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what local authorities representation there is on(a) the new United Kingdom Sports Commission and (b) the new English Sports Council. [20997]

§ Mr. Sproat
Local authorities are not directly represented on either body. Ministerial nominees, to be appointed in each of the regions of the English Sports Council, will bring a further range of experience and expertise to the council's work, including that of local government.

§ Mr. Chris Smith
To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what percentage of(a) the new United Kingdom Sports Commission and (b) the new English Sports Council are females. [20995]

§ Mr. Sproat
The United Kingdom Sports Council will have 10 members, one of whom is female. The Sports Council for England will have 15 members, one of whom is female.
