HC Deb 25 April 1995 vol 258 c463W
Mr. Ainger

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many installations in Scotland require consent from Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution for atmospheric emissions; and if he will list them. [20844]

Sir Hector Monro

In Scotland HM industrial pollution inspectorate is the designated enforcing authority for part A processes under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Integrated pollution control for such processes is being introduced in stages. As of 24 April 1995, 159 authorisations had been issued to 121 operators of prescribed processes. Further applications for authorisations will be required in accordance with the timetable in schedule 3 to the Environmental Protection (Prescribed Processes) Regulations 1991, as amended.

Details of both applications and authorisations, including requirements relating to emissions to the atmosphere, may be examined on public registers maintained by the inspectorate and by river purification authorities and district councils in respect of processes operated in their respective areas.
