§ Mr. WattsBetween 19 December 1994 and 7 April 1995 we have received some 440 letters and 2,770 pre-printed postcards in favour of proceeding with the Newbury bypass. Most of these came from the local Newbury area. We have also received two petitions in favour of the bypass, containing a total of 10,700 signatures. During the same period we have received some 320 letters and 50 pre-printed postcards opposing the bypass. The majority of these came from outside the local area.
