§ Mr. CohenTo ask the Chairman of the Administration Committee what consideration has been given to licensing Parliament for weddings under the Marriages Act 1994.
§ Mr. Martin J. Martin[holding answer 24 March 1995]: I am advised that the regulations made under the Marriages Act 1994 relate only to civil marriage. Approved premises must have no recent or continuing connection with religion or religious practices, be open to 244W the public without charge, and be regularly available to the public for civil marriage. I do not therefore consider it appropriate for the House to be licensed under the Act.
