§ Mr. ForthThis Department employs one political adviser. Salaries for special advisers are negotiated individually in relation to their previous earnings, and are confidential. Working hours are normally 41 hours a week.
Economic advice is obtained from career civil servants, who may be employed on a variety of working patterns. The following numbers—full-time equivalents—of Government economic service economists are employed in my Department: one grade 5, 1.6 grade sevens and four economic assistants.
