§ Mr. Norris[holding answer 18 April 1995]: The requirements for navigational lights on the River Thames conform to international rules as set out in the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea in 1972. There are no additional requirements.
The requirements for navigational lights in German inland waters are matters for the German authorities. It is for the owners and operators of ships operating between the UK and ports on the Rhine to ensure that they are aware of any localised navigational regulations.
