§ Mr. Robin SquireThe table shows expenditure by Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Surrey and Hertfordshire local education authorities on pre-primary and primary pupils combined, and on secondary pupils, from 1974–75 to 1993–94, the latest year for which provisional outturn figures are available.

For grant-maintained schools, similar activities are supported by special purpose grant—development. The calculation and payment of special purpose grants are now the responsibility of the Funding Agency for Schools and I have asked the chairman of the funding agency to write to the hon. Member.
