§ Mr. RichardsMy right hon. Friend and I have received many representations on the question of the funding of education over the last 12 months. The funding of education is, however, a local government responsibility. We have made it clear that, in our view, there is sufficient scope for local authorities in Wales to fund education appropriately from within the overall settlement they have had. BY long-standing arrangement, it is for local authorities in Wales to decide their priorities for spending.
