HC Deb 18 April 1995 vol 258 cc111-2W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on the world campaigns against TB and on the United Kingdom contributions. [19120]

Mr. Sackville

The Overseas Development Agency has identified the control of communicable diseases, and particularly mentioned tuberculosis, as one of its priority themes for health and population assistance. During 1994 and 1995, the United Kingdom contributed £625,000 to the World Health Organisation tuberculosis programme and almost £2,500,000 has been paid in grants for tuberculosis-related activities. This includes £175,000 channelled through British non-governmental organisations.
