HC Deb 18 April 1995 vol 258 c27W
Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement for timetabling on the next round of bidding for the single regeneration budget. [17874]

Mr. Curry

The guidance for the second round of the single regeneration budget challenge fund was issued on 12 April 1995. Copies of the guidance have been placed in the Library of the House. Outline bids for challenge fund support should be submitted to Government offices for the regions by 16 June 1995, and final bids by 18 September 1995. It is hoped to announce final decisions on bids by Christmas 1995.

Mr. Burden

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment by whom and on what occasion representatives of the Birmingham bid for support from the single regeneration budget 1995–96 were told by his Department to prioritise the two components of that bid. [19459]

Sir Paul Beresford

The Government office for the west midlands advised all applicants seeking support from the single regeneration budget 1995–96 that bids would need to be prioritised. In Birmingham's case, this advice was contained in a letter dated 29 June 1994 to Birmingham city council.
