To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what circumstances it is his policy to buy British and to encourage executive agencies responsible to the Treasury to do the same; what consideration was given to this policy in the purchase of furniture, fittings and building materials for the Inland Revenue office at Castle Meadow, Nottingham; and what considerations were present in this specific case to create a preference for foreign products. The Government's approach to the purchasing of goods and services is to seek best value for money in terms of cost and quality; the "whole life cost".
