HL Deb 18 April 1995 vol 563 c43WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress is being made in the Geneva negotiations for a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and whether a timetable has been agreed.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Chalker of Wallasey)

The negotiations on a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty resumed on 30 January. We hope that sufficient progress will have been made to enable a new draft text to be produced before the Conference on Disarmament adjourns in mid-April. Many states share our commitment to the early conclusion of a treaty, but no timetable has been agreed.
