The Government very much hope that those heads of state of Government from the Caribbean who have been invited to London for the VE-day commemorations, will be accompanied by second world war veterans from their countries. We have also contacted associations representing Caribbean veterans resident in the UK, and invited nominations to attend the various commemorative events. In addition, we envisage that veterans from the Caribbean will play a significant role in the commemorations to mark the 50th anniversary of VJ-day in August.
