§ Mr. HowardThe Police (Amendment) Regulations 1995 provide for the conditions of service of officers in this position to be varied by agreement between the officer concerned and his or her police authority. I hope that police authorities will be ready to agree to a variation in all cases where such an officer seeks to transfer to a fixed-term appointment.
