asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have read The Power of the Future?, published by the Association of Metropolitan Authorities; whether they agree with the eight key conclusions, including the recommendation that a Royal Commission should be appointed to enquire into all aspects of the past and future management of radioactive waste; and whether they will act in accordance with this recommendation.

We have not received a copy ofThe Power of the Future?, but the recommendation that a Royal Commission should be appointed to inquire into all aspects of the past and future management of radioactive waste was one of the recommendations in the joint response by the Association of County Councils, Association of District Councils and Association of Metropolitan Authorities to the Government's Review of Radioactive Waste Management Policy. This is being considered, together with all the responses to the review, and an announcement about future policy will be made in due course.
