All ministerial private offices have access to this service. My Department is investigating linking its existing internal electronic mail system to the Internet to allow Internet electronic mail access. It already uses the Internet to disseminate information about educational research in Scotland, and is investigating making available a wider range of information using CCTA's world wide web server. In addition, a number of officials in my Department access the Internet to obtain information on a variety of subjects in support of their business. My Department is co-operating with other Departments and agencies to investigate the use of broadband interactive communications for the delivery of more effective and efficient public services in Scotland, and to help ensure that businesses in Scotland are aware of the commercial opportunities arising from the use of these services.
