HC Deb 05 April 1995 vol 257 cc1214-5W
Mr. Chidgey

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the estimated number of people over 17 years of age with glaucoma in the United Kingdom. [17872]

Mr. Sackville

It is estimated that in England for all ages there were 101,000 patients suffering from glaucoma who consulted a general practitioner during 1991–92. Less than 0.5 per cent. of these were under 24 years of age. Source: Morbidity Statistics from General Practice, Fourth national Study.
