HC Deb 04 April 1995 vol 257 cc1063-4W
Mr. Clifford Forsythe

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the social security benefits generally available to United Kingdom citizens between the years 1980 and 1994; and where the implementation of identical legislation led to different decisions being reached in Northern Ireland compared with the rest of the United Kingdom. [17512]

Mr. Moss

Benefits generally available to United Kingdom citizens from 1980 to 1994 are listed inThe Government's Expenditure Plans Northern Ireland Commentary on Public Expenditure Plans Northern Ireland Expenditure Plans and Priorities: the Government's Expenditure Plans

Copies of these documents are available in the Library.

Social Security benefits are available in Northern Ireland on the same basis as they are in Great Britain. It would not be appropriate to comment on the merits of individual cases as these are decided in accordance with the relevant law by independent adjudication authorities in the respective jurisdictions. Anyone who is dissatisfied with these decisions has the right to invoke the statutory review and appeal procedures.
