HC Deb 04 April 1995 vol 257 c1023W
Mr. Allason

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to publish regulations relating to trading on Sundays in licensed premises holding off-licences. [17485]

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The Licensing (Sunday Hours) Bill will amend the licensing law in England and Wales to permit the sale of alcohol at off-licensed premises from 10am to 10.30pm on Sundays. Large shops with off-licences, which are subject to limits on their hours of trading under the Sunday Trading Act 1994, will be entitled to sell alcohol throughout the time the 1994 Act permits them to open. We do not at present plan to publish any special regulations for businesses whose trade and customers will benefit from the Bill.
